Our Book Swap

This Sunday, January 17, the kids and I decided to raise money to help
people in Haiti.

We decided the best way to make money was to sell something people might want that we already have but no longer want.  We are going to have a book swap.

We asked the parents and the  older kids to meet with us after church.

The date of the book swap will be Saturday, February 13, 2010.  We will use the large church hall.  The sale will last 2 or 3 hours.

We will need the following supplies:
books to sell
boxes to display them in
bags for people to take them home in
2 money boxes
change
tokens or tickets for the swap.

We need to do the following things:
Collect supplies, especially books
Create flyers
Put flyers all around in Swampscott
Put a story in the newspaper and other media
Ask people to mention us on social networking sites (parents will want to know about this)

How a Swap Works
Shoppers pay admission (we might give them a raffle ticket with their admission)
For every 2 books they bring to the swap they get a ticket letting them take one book home.
They can buy more books for cash.

Things We Need to Decide
How much will we charge for admission?
Do we want to limit the amount you can swap?
How much will we charge for cash purchases?
